The mordenite zeolite high ratio of silicon to aluminum atoms makes it more resistant to attack by acids than most other zeolites. Synthetic Mordenite is used as a catalyst in the petrochemical industry for the acid-catalyzed isomerisation of alkanes and aromatics.
